After School Programs

City Year

City Year is a non-profit organization that partners with schools to promote educational equity by bridging learning gaps and supporting student success. City Year Los Angeles is entering its 7th year working with 122nd Street Elementary School and we are so excited to continue this partnership! Our diverse and talented team of AmeriCorps Members collaborates with 122nd Street’s teachers to support students as tutors, mentors and role models. Research shows that warning signs in students as early as 3rd grade can determine if that student is at risk to drop out of school before graduating from High School. As a result, City Year AmeriCorps members work with select 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes to ensure students are receiving the support they need to succeed – academically, behaviorally, and socially. City Year also holds an afterschool program - Extended Learning Time (ELT) - where students participate in academic interventions, homework help, enrichment activities, and are introduced to computer programming. Stop by the City Year room and get to know our team!

Beyond the Bell - Youth Services

Beyond the Bell - Youth Services is an after school program that provides organized games, enrichment activities, nutrition, physical fitness and homework time for students capable of independent supervision to, from and at the playground site. YS is not a child care program, it is a permissive program where students sign in and leave the program at their own volition. Children are expected to conduct themselves appropriately and may lose the opportunity to participate if their behavior is disruptive. YS scheduled hours are from school dismissal time through 6 p.m and is for students in elementary grades, 2nd-5th.

Kids Protectors Of The Environment (KPE)

KPE is a free after school program that services students in grades K-5. We operate Monday-Friday, immediately following the school’s dismissal bell, until 6:00 p.m.
